The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has officially published Notice No. 103/2026 announcing the Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test (NORCET 11). This nationwide entrance and recruitment test aims to fill 2,218 Nursing Officer (Group B) vacancies across 27 participating AIIMS institutes, Central Government Hospitals, and allied medical establishments. Through a single application and unified examination process, candidates can secure employment at top healthcare centers nationwide, including 188 dedicated vacancies announced for AIIMS Guwahati.
Selected candidates will receive remuneration under Pay Level-07 (Pay Band-2 ₹9,300 to ₹34,800 with Grade Pay ₹4,600) of the 7th CPC matrix. A crucial reservation mandate established by the Central Institute Body (CIB) reserves 80% of participating AIIMS seats for female candidates and 20% for male candidates. AIIMS New Delhi handles the centralized screening and merit determination, after which final seat allotment, appointment, posting, and service rules remain governed by the respective allocated institution.
Eligibility & Selection Criteria
Candidates aspiring to apply for AIIMS NORCET 11 must satisfy the essential academic criteria, age restrictions, and council registration rules prior to the submission deadline:
- Academic Pathways: Candidates can qualify through two distinct streams:
- Path A (Degree): B.Sc (Hons.) Nursing or B.Sc Nursing / Post-Basic B.Sc Nursing from a recognized Indian Nursing Council / State Nursing Council institute, along with active registration as a Nurse and Midwife.
- Path B (Diploma): General Nursing Midwifery (GNM) diploma with mandatory State/INC registration, plus at least two years of continuous clinical experience in a hospital with a minimum bed strength of 50. This experience must be acquired after completion of the course and council registration.
- Age Boundary: Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old as on 13 August 2026. Standard upper-age relaxations apply for reserved categories (5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and 10 to 15 years for PwBD applicants).
- Selection Stages: Selection relies entirely on a two-tier Computer Based Test (CBT):
- Stage I (NORCET Preliminary): A qualifying screening test comprising 100 questions (80 Nursing, 20 General Knowledge & Aptitude) to be completed in 90 minutes. Candidates scoring above the category percentile cut-off and falling within 5 times the vacancy count advance to Stage II.
- Stage II (NORCET Main): The final merit examination consisting of 160 scenario-based practical questions (180 minutes duration). Selection is strictly based on performance in Stage II.
Step-by-Step Application Process
Eligible candidates must complete their application online through the official portal before the specified cutoff date. Follow these steps to ensure error-free registration:
- Navigate to the official portal at aiimsexams.ac.in and locate the NORCET 11 recruitment portal.
- If you have registered for previous AIIMS recruitments, log in using your existing One Time Registration (OTR) credentials. Fresh applicants must complete the initial OTR registration.
- Fill out the detailed application form including educational background, registration details, and hospital experience details.
- Upload clear scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and left-thumb impression according to the prescribed specification guidelines.
- Pay the applicable processing fee online via Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking. SC/ST candidates who appear for the exam will receive a fee refund following verification.
- Review all entered information carefully, submit the application, and download the confirmation slip for future references.
Important Instructions & Advice
Applicants should take special care to avoid common procedural errors that could result in application rejection. Ensure that the photograph and signature comply precisely with the online image resizer guidelines. Using duplicate profiles or registering with new credentials despite possessing a previous AIIMS OTR account will result in immediate disqualification.
In-service candidates currently employed in Government, Autonomous, or PSU organizations must upload a mandatory No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer before 18 August 2026. Negative marking of 1/3rd mark applies for every wrong response in both Stage I and Stage II tests. Since timed test sections cannot be revisited once closed, candidates are advised to manage their time efficiently during the examination.
